Oh my goodness. What a treat! This place is amazing. The food is delish, one of the best I have tried in a while.... And I consider myself a foodie! I was in town for work and see family/friends and I decided to try Ginger because of the reviews. Really fantastic option in the area. The only negative thing I have to mention is that my group was there on a Friday night at 6:30pm, and we were ok catching up until abt 8pm. Unfortunately, they had a saxo player start and he was also using a microphone to play music; it was SO SO loud that we couldn't hear each other (even with ppl that were next to each other). It really darkened the mood. We did mention it to the hostess and she offered to move us further from the music (which I don't know if it would have make a difference since the place is not that big) but it was too late and we were in the middle of our entrees to move. So we stayed at our table. We enjoyed everything once the musician took breaks but once he started again, forget it... back to staying quiet and just eating, or yelling across the table and to each other to try to have a conversation. I had a ring in my ears afterwards It really is not necessary to have a mic with the saxophone - the place is abt 2k or 3k sq ft at the most and there is really no need for that microphone. Too much!! Will definitely be back, I just hope the music is adjusted to the ambience.

My wife and I have been going to Vanilla Cafe for almost 2 years now. We met the owners and they mentioned their other restaurant called Ginger. So my wife wanted to have dinner there for our four year anniversary. The food was amazing full of flavor the ambiance was beautiful so laid back and relaxing. Our waitress was amazing she kept checking on us making sure everything was okay and when we wanted something else she was on top of it. I definitely recommend Ginger if you want to try something different Definitely will give them a 5 stars

Wow, such a hidden gem - hit literally all of the marks! All of the apps (tuna tartare, truffle fries, tom yum soup, eggplant salad) were great, with the tuna tartare being my fav - super fresh and all the right flavors and textures. We got the shortrib, ribeye, and lamb ribs. The ribeye was only $37, which is insane for how much you get and how GOOD it is. On par with expensive steaks you find in center city philly, with a great sear, and accompanied by a fresh tomato chutney of sorts. Now my fav part was the chef offering us two complimentary palette cleansers before dessert and walking us through the process - there was a basil jelly and a lemon/ginger shot with watermelon skin - even though they were just palette cleansers, they were so refreshing and the experience was so unique. Creme brulee and cheesecake were also phenomenal. Seriously come here - don't let the neighborhood deter you!

One of the cutest restaurants with great vibes in the city. The main dishes portions are decent size but the appetizers have really small portions. Flavor and taste wise is a bit basic and lacking the specialness. The best thing was the char smoke grilled tomatoes, which is the side for the steak. Service was great.

So, my girlfriends surprised me with a dinner here for my birthday and I was not only shocked at their accomplished deception but definitely impressed with Ginger! This restaurant was not on my radar at all and once we arrived it was located in an unassuming strip mall. Some of my best kept secrets live in strip malls. Inside, it was empty, but this was a Tuesday evening at 5:00pm, however, the space is absolutely gorgeous. And it's not just the obvious decor....the lighting, the chairs.... but the details. For instance, the private dining area with its gold beaded shimmering stranded partition or the rustic place settings with forged metal utensils and book like menu or the sinks outside the restrooms...just charming. The menu was a little eclectic. I wasn't sure what some items were but there were enough "known" items and diversity to satisfy a crowd. My table went for the truffle fries, potatoes and mushrooms, the lamb chops and the short ribs. I have to say that everything we had was good but those short ribs arrived on such a dramatic display that the whole table was jealous of the person who ordered it. She shared of course and the meat was heavenly!! I have to come back for that alone. My lamb chops were delicious as well. The only negatives were the host/initial server was awkward and hard to understand at times. I think he might have still been in training. Also, this is one of those establishments that harken back to the days where they prepare your doggie bag in the kitchen. I remember when that was the norm but I have long since appreciated being handed my own box to plate what I want to take, how I want to take it. That said, I had several conversations with the later server on missing boxed items as well as putting the wrong items in the take away bags. But that's it. I can't wait to return.

Love the aesthetic. Ropes, wood, greenery and a vibrant scene projected from the one wall makes it very social media friendly. A cute place with both indoor and outside seating. Our mains of salmon with veg and seafood pasta were good, but next time would be more adventurous with our choices and maybe pick one of the chefs specialities. (Chef is apparently from Kryzykstan and there were some interesting sounding dishes on the menu). The truffle fries were crispy but a bit greasy. The chef was out to converse with guests at two neighboring tables while we were there.

What a gem in the northeast Philly! Beautifully decorated it looks like your in center city! The food and service was great. Staff was extremely attentive, their mocktails are great! I really liked my passion fruit juice with a few pours of vodka, it's byob so don't forget! The menu is interesting as it covers a few different cuisines. We got the truffle fries and seafood eggrolls. I thought the truffle fries had great flavor, the seafood rolls had great potential but it was missing something, it needed just a little more punch of flavor. I got the steak sandwich, the bread was soft, the steak was tender and they even give you little gloves to avoid a mess. I thought it was a little small for the price. Dessert was nice, we had the pineapple pastry and the San Sebastián! Both were delicious! Definitely a great place to try!

Cool place, small dining area, and a popular spot for large parties, so reservations are recommended. The staff was both attentive and accommodating. Don't forget it is a BYOB! We ordered a smorgasbord. We had baked sushi, truffle fries, spring rolls, bruschetta, seafood pasta, and creme brule. We enjoyed every bite. Oh yeah, and mocktail, which was very tasty. They had many to choose from. The baked sushi was my husband's favorite, the truffle fries were my favorite. Highly recommend trying this place if you are looking for something new and different.
